THE THREADED WAY
Setting Intentions → Creating the Container → Integration
Medicine work is energy amplification–vibrant, transformative, immense–FADEN is not only a container for this energy, but also the collaborator in weaving together the threads presented to you. Our goal is to provide structure, guidance, and a witness to your healing.
Our practice is unique, and rooted in mental health-informed care. Our combined years in experiential work, and our work in a clinical setting, have illuminated the ways in which one needs to be supported through this work. We begin each individuals’ work starting with intention, and build upon a foundation of trust.
SETTING INTENTIONS
The key to an impactful experience is to begin with intention. We set the stage and nurture your inner curiosity, and to answer the question, “why now?”
This question is foundational to your journey, and invites you to ask more. In what areas of your life could you be more honest? If you could relieve yourself of one burden, what would it be? What is needing to be made known?
In addition to the subjective exploration we are also trauma informed practitioners and deeply consider these aspects of one’s life and experience. Exploring fears, expectations, concerns and the importance of both difficult and positively affirming experiences in one’s healing.
CREATING THE
CONTAINER
We often hear the phrase “set and setting” in the context of medicine work. This refers to your mindset as you set forth and where the journey will take place. These two aspects are critical but an often neglected element is the Matrix–the space and place you land AFTER the journey. Who is there to support you as you return? Initially it’s us and then we help you to consider that safety after our time together.
This is always top of mind for FADEN in our holistic approach and expertise in this space. These medicine journeys are vast, deep, and transformative–our years of guiding others has honed our ability to navigate the seas of consciousness in all its forms. We hold space in this container for your enormity, your joy, your grief, and all that lies between. We are also paying close attention to the minutes and hours after your deep inner work with that ever present curation that is equal parts beauty and skilled guidance.
INTEGRATION
When reflecting on their journeys, clients often feel that their journey gave them exactly what they needed, but not necessarily what they originally sought. This is a very important truth of this work–as much as we prepare with clear intentions, we ultimately find ourselves presented with the knowledge our inner healing intelligence provides.
Following your medicine journey is what we term the “Integration Sessions.” These are a pivotal part of our methodology, in which we discuss the insights you obtained, implement practices to cultivate this insight, and how to move forward with this heightened understanding of what you gleaned.
The human experience is incomprehensibly vast. What we provide is a witness and guide to your transformation–a trusted ally in the boundless whole.
art INTEGRATION
One of the most unique aspects of FADEN is our use of art and creativity in both our preparation and integration work. While verbal language is a powerful and familiar tool for most, art is the language of the soul and experience is non-verbal.
Our Founder, Lindsay Olshan, has been using art in her private practice for over a decade. She is always considering what one can learn about themselves through their senses with an emphasis on wholeness and not perfection.
Using art in the preparation phase of this work we might use the practice of taking something ordinary like a feather or a coin and turning into something sacred through the power of intention. This then might be your talisman through your journey and beyond.
Post journey, early integration is captured by small marks, color, depiction or loose visual interpretation. These drawings continue to offer meaning days, weeks and months after the initial medicine experience. They can then also become a personal language of sorts of your unconscious as symbols and patterns emerge.
“Heal yourself with the light of the sun and the rays of the moon. With the sound of the river and the waterfall. With the swaying of the sea and the fluttering of birds. Heal yourself with mint, neem and eucalyptus. Sweeten with lavender, rosemary and chamomile. Hug yourself with cocoa bean and a hint of cinnamon. Put love in tea instead of sugar and drink it looking at the stars. Heal yourself with the kisses the wind gives you and the hugs of the rain. Stand strong with your bare feet on the ground and with everything that comes from it. Be smarter every day by listening to your intuition, looking at the world with your forehead. Jump, dance, sing, so that you live happier. Heal yourself, with beautiful love and always remember…You are the medicine.”
— Maria Sabina, Mexican healer and poet.
